350 performance suggestions

I will be building a 350 chevy small block, it will probobly be a shortblock from napa or pepboys. I was wondering what will I have to put in this to have it crank 320- 350 horsepower at the flywheel ? I was thinking about edlebrock preformer package ( heads,cam,intake and carb ). I know that i want about a 9:1 compression ratio. Is this a good idea or a lost cause. what about preformer rpm package.

if you look in the right places, you can find just about anything you need to know somewhere on the internet, and the archives of this forum is a good place to start. that's where i look when i'm having trouble most of the time. It may not directly address your problem, but it surely can be helpful.

My mom's suprisingly ok with me having 320-350 horsepower because i will not be driving the car full time. Only on dry summer weekend days. My dad wants me to use the 267 for a test run so we can work little things out that may happen or need ajusting. After all it only takes a day to swap a motor out.

I know going from a mercedes motor to a chevy is probably a 1- 2 week deal as I will have to build the mounts after removing the benz mounts but once I get a chevy motor in and bolted up ect it should then be the same routine as chevy to chevy, just the first leap that takes a while. Basicly what me and my dad have agreed on is, we'll test the car with the 267, get the speedo fairly accurate ect, then out comes the 267 in goes the 350. When we are bolting the 267 up there will probably be a 350 on a stand right next to the car. I must say you are very observitive as you knew i played hookie today but last friday when I first appeared on this site our school was closed due to the extremly cold weather and the busses wouldent start. I WILL use a 350.

I guess the 14 was when we had no school, last friday was our last day of Mid-Term exams. I do not miss much school. This is the first I have missed in about 2 months.

I didn't even notice that. just yesterday I was just a Club hotrod member. I just got my Summit book back out and was looking for some good heads. Dart's to expensive and the edlebrock seems to be the best for the money, they gotta be better than stock or using 267 heads right?

I'm looking at the World products iron heads but do not know if i should go 76 cc or 67 cc chambers. Which one should i go for? I want power and will sacrafice torq ratings. Is the virtual engine dyno program worth trying?

I live in prattsville but shop in oneonta. I'm there on a weekly basis so it's like I can't and my mom works nights at the oneonta Wal*Mart. I know that i can . Where is a better place to buy shortblocks?

My Dad HATES " Pepboys. One time he bought tires there and they mounted the wrong tires for his 97 F150. I was just giving Pepboys as an example though I was really thinking about Advance because we have never had a problem with them.

Hey Matt the 267 mounts on the front of the block. The 350 mounts on the side. The side mounts are much better than the front mounts so there's no point in buiding front mounts just for a test run. The 350 distributor needs more clearance than the 267 and may hit the firewall if you set it up for a 267.
Before you paint it weld the back doors shut and cut off the roof with a sawsall. Then maybe people will notice it.
