Gee that is pretty cryptic, can you provide a picture? V8, 6, OHC, OHV?

'80 to '85 350 cu. inch 2 or 4 bolt main
As mentioned above 80 - 85 350cu. Could be 2 or 4 bolt and was used in all passenger, i.e., Camaro, Malibu, Impala, etc as well as light duty trucks. Number off the pad on the front passenger side of the block will help to narrow things down as to exact application.

I guess that implies "engine = SBC 350". Thanks for the link to MORTEC. I am old enough to remember when almost all parts of any interest ended with "Ford '32-'48" but that shows how things change and maybe "SBC 350" will start to be a number only for restorers if GM folds?

Ouch! Let's hope that doesn't happen.
The 14010207 was the tip off for this being a GM 350 motor.
Funny how we "evolve" to certain pre-conceived mind sets for hot rods and such. All my "regular cars" have been Fords for years - LTD station wagons and Econoline vans when we had kids at home. I put 250K miles on a 95 Explorer and am driving a 02 Expedition with 150K miles on it. The wife has a 04 Mountaineer and we've had the best of service from these vehicles.
My hot rods have all been Chevys - Corvette, Chevelles and now the little 63 Nova. I think back when I started buying hot rod stuff, the GM parts just seemed more available and less expensive.
I gotta say that the distributer up front certainly was an idea that GM should have copied!!

Glenn
Heres some other numbers from the engine:
H34201
207
g45
can you guys tell me about these numbers and what they are? Please and thanks.
It's in Glenn's post, #5.... It's a 350 chebbie.
Yeah I was just wondering what those numbers meant
Let's carry that analysis to the entire old car hobby in overview. In the category of "street rod", hot rod, whatever you prefer to name "old" cars, 1948 and older is COMPLETELY dominated by popularity of Ford brand cars. For the years 1949 to 1954 it's a little muddled, with Ford products being a bit stronger, but a good case could be made that GM products were gaining strength. Then the "COSMIC MOMENT" hit.....................the introduction of the 1955 Chevrolet................immediate sea change in brand preference for both body style and engine choice (one notable exception would be '65 to '70 Mustangs). Well, at least up to the '72 model year...............after that.................who really cares?;)
It's just a plain jane 350 chebbie block..... Could have come out of most anything as Glen said.... Maybe go check Mortec if you want specifics, but it doesn't really matter unless you're trying to restore some numbers matching type of car...
You have the block. Is it a 2 bolt or 4 bolt main cap block? After that, it's a matter of correct machining and assembly to turn it into a good engine.....
4 bolt main
Hmm.. These numbers don't match up with anything I'm aware of. Can you get the "Engine ID/V.I.N. Code" from the front pad on the drivers side block?
Yea I will try to get those tommorrow.
