I'm a lil let down by the torque this engine has

This is what I run now.357ci SB
14x4 K&N filter
MSD cap and rotor
stock coil, recurve kit installed.
10* advance at idle. That I know of.
MSD 8mm wires
600cfm eddy carb
wieand 8004 intake
(spread bore intake, still needs proper spacer or different intake)
882 heads
blueracer 270H cam
8.16:1SCR/6.69:1DCR-9.03:1SCR/7.39:1DCR worst case to best case. I don't know enough specs.
4 valve relief flat tops
stock pullies
and a solid steel fan (must be costing upwards of 20hp/15lbft)

TH350 tranny
stock stall
3.73:1 gears with an eaton limited slip

235/75x15 snow tires (295/50x15's come spring, I hope)

1986 GMC 1/2 ton 2wd long box std. cab

200 pound driver

Is it a good combo?
I see pics of lots of stock 350 powered trucks smokeing the tires. I have tried, but on dry pavement my truck will not spin when trying to hold it still with the brake. If floored from a stop. Maybe 10 foot black marks.

That 270* cam might be too much for the low compression engine. You might be able to hide it by advancing the cam timing by a degree or two.

I would run more ignition advance, what you want to see is around 36* TOTAL advance at the engines peak power RPM. Thats base and centrifugal combined. The vacuum advance is really a band-aid to help during acceleration, so it doesn't affect PEAK, but will change performance.

Make sure your advance can is hooked to ported vacuum. On the Edelbrock carb, it's a small horizontal line on the front of the carb facing the front of the engine.

Yeah, sounds like a stock engine with a big cam. All of those bolt on's, except for the cam, probably netted you an extra 5-10hp.

This is one sad performance engine.

Rather then dumping alot into this motor.

I'm going to work towards swaping in a BB that I will build myself.

This 357 for the short block with timing chain/cover, 882 (crap) heads. (One guy at the performance shop said it has a forged crank) cost $2154.60

I asked what the SCR would be. I heard from 9:1-10:1

9:1 at best.

If you really had your heart set ont this engine, swap the heads, probably the intake, and just for the hell of it, try dropping the muffler for one run. Many times, Ive seen trucks set up with bolt on engines and low-flow exhaust. Try that, then if it still sucks, swap in a overbored.
