well i found some LS1 heads on craigslist for pretty cheap.. has anyone ever put this on a early 350? mines a 73 truck block. and aside from being alum. could there be any other gains?

Sorry but the LS1 is a completely different motor design from the typical legacy 350 engine....ZERO parts will interchange.

Sell the old 350 and buy a Gen III short block to fit the heads.
GM spent about 1.2 billion developing the Gen3 LS 1, they have all new architecture. The only thing they might have in common is maybe bellhousing, and motormounts.
Bellhousing is different but similar.
Motor mounts look completely different. Not even similar.
Corvette mounts for LS motors are round biscuits oriented in a vertical axis.
There are adapter motor mounts made to bolt an LS into a SBC location....not optimum for the LS but they work. They look kind of tacky too.
You can make your own mounts. If you look on my build tread, One Way to build a '32 roadster, you can see how I did mine.
