i have a 350 in my 1980 cutlass i wanted to know would i have to go thru borin the motor again to do a stroker kit on my motor the heads im going to use would be Gm vortec jus because i have a intake jus sittin would this be wise an what kind of cam would i need a i still want to run on pump gas 91 :3dSMILE:

A typical 383 build consists of a .030 over 350 block, with a 400 crank with 6" rods. You can use the 5.7" rods but there are some clearance and fitting issues involved and its just easier to use the 6"ers. A roller cam is the way to go, specs depend on what the motor will be used for, street, street strip, strip, rpm range, car wieght, tranny type, rear gears, etc, etc, what kind of intake are we talking about here ?
If you have a fresh block, no need to bore again. You'll need a rotating assembly which you can buy as a kit that include pistons, rods, and crank. You have the option of cast, forged, or mixed assemblies meaning you can get cast crank but with forged pistons. You also have choices on compression ratios along with rod length and internal or external balance.Quote:

Cam depends on what kind of valve train you want to run. Flat or roller? Where you want to make power? Daily driver, street/strip, or strip? What trans and converter? What rear gears?
It all comes down to how you want to drive it, what you want to do with it

the motor is in a 1980 cutlass 350 tranny 3:73 gears an 2800 stall the car will jus be used to pull some 22 inch rims an to do a burnout here or there i jus want more power from my 350 i have now the motor been in the car for about 1 year so jus something new to do wit it.
What heads are on the car now? A 350 will do what you want, just need to build it up a little.
so reg.350 heads mild cam.i know i wouldnt have to stroke it i could jus add a cam. the motor has a edl intake a Qjet headers.
