Installing my Intake

So now I'm at the point of installing my Edelbrock air-gap intake onto my AFR heads. I have a set of Felpro blue gaskets and the robber end seals that go with it. I was following my engine build book and got the intake on with the bolts just snug. When looking from each end there is a fair sized gap that the rubber seals don't look like they'll seal up.

So digging through all the Edelbrock paperwork I found the installation directions specific to it:o . I have a few questions about them:

1. Can I use Aviation Form a Gasket on the gasket surfaces instead of the Edelbrock sealant?

2. It says to use RTV sealant on each end, I have red high temp and black RTV, would one of these work and how thick can this be to fill the gap?

3. Should I not use the rubber seals at all?

Most places recomend not using the rubber end seals supplied, and use the rtv gasket sealer.

yes i do not use the rubber i use a bead of rtv on the the china walls and a thin coat on the bottom of the intake then stick it down it use a bit a round the coolant ports you do not want to use the rubber and rtv . RTV is slippery and the will poop out THE RUBBER GASKETS when you draw down the intake

I've always just used rtv, never had any problems.

the best place for thos dumb cork and rubber end seals is in the trash, nobody i know will use them.;)

Thanks guys, the rubber gaskets are in the garbage and I used the red high temp RTV cause it was good for 650F as opposed to the Black 500F, I don't really think it makes much difference though. I just spread a thin layer of Aviation form a Gasket around the water jackets as per AFR.

black rtv is for maximum oil resistance , but you shoud be good
