Rahmhorn Question

The crate GM 355 has standard factory exhaust manifolds. I recently picked up a pair of ramhorns for a SBC. I have finally gotten around to making the switch, but I have a couple of questions?

1. The left hand manifold had a "shelf" built into the front port, what is that for?

2. Where can I locate replacement bolts for the manifold to exhaust pipe flange? Also where can I locate bolts to secure it to the block?

3. The right hand manifold came with a spacer where the exhaust pipe ties in, is that needed or can I not use it?

Most any parts store should have the bolts for the manifolds, just measure the thickness of the manifold and add about 1/2" for the bolt threads to go into the head, they are 3/8" coarse thread bolts.... Same thing with the studs for the exhaust flange, the guy at the counter should be able to fix you right up. As for the spacer, it's ther if you are going to be using OEM exhaust pipes. If you're getting your pipes made or making them yourself, you won't need them. Looks like the "shelf" used to be the generator mount point.

The spacer eliminates the exaust flapper ,riser..manditory item...there is no bevel for the donut on that side without the spacer.......the indent is for the clutch ball stud ,I think ,I purchased the exaust bolts at the local auto store from the doorman boxes.

OHHH!........Unless you need a/c mounting you can use 2 right sides so no adapter is needed and they look much better than the one side with the mounting holes and the other side bare,plus that side has the donut bevel built in......

You might want to check the id of the outlet. The 2 1/2 inch will serve well while the 2 or 2 1/4 inch are going to choke you down a bit. the bolts and studs are standard exhaust items. If the inside of the manifold is tapered, you can get a half donut that goes between the spacer and the manifold or you can go without it using a full donut. Might suggest using long brass nuts on the studs. Makes future work a lot easier.
