1.6 rockers with Vortec Heads?

Are there any mods that have to be made to use 1.6 ratio rockers with Vortec heads like you have to do on the older heads? I'm going to run a Ramjet 350 cam in my engine(already have it) and GM uses 1.6 rollers with this cam, according to the GM parts catalog. I know the Ramjet uses Vortec based heads.

Also, has anyone used Scorpion brand rockers? They have a narrow, self-aligning rocker for a decent price.

I use a lot of the Scorpion roller rockers.
We get three racing years out of the Scorpions.
Thats at 7,500 rpm's lap after lap.

Thanks for the info guys. I kind of thought the pushrod holes would need opening up.

Appreciate the answer on the Scorpions too. I'm leaning toward them. They're supposed to be made in the USA.

The 12558060 heads are lift-limited to 0.450". If you are gonna have more lift, you need valve guide and spring changes. Scoggin-Dickey offers modified heads under part no. SD8060A2, $339.95 ea., good to 0.525" lift.

They also offer a kit under part no. SD8060AKIT, $999.95 which includes two upgraded heads, Edelbrock Vortec Performer intake, head gaskets, head bolts, stamped steel rail rockers, intake gaskets and 12-point intake bolts.

By the way, the Vortec head was designed to use rail rockers to align the rocker tip over the valve stem tip. They are not aligned with the pushrod hole in the head. When you talk to Scorpion, get the 1.6 rail roller.

you can buy the LT-4 retainers and a set of the Z-28/ LT-1 valve springs and up grade the Vortec heads you have for 500+ Lift .

These are the best Vortec heads out there . They are the RHS Pro Torker Vortec 202in 160ex . These heads are drilled and tapped for early or Vortec intake manifolds . They also out flow the GM #906 heads by 27cfm . And come with screw in studs and guide plates . Mike[/QUOTE] i have used the scorpions they make howards cam rocker for them and crane and lunati are the same . harland sharps work good . like said you need a way for the rocker to stay on track so push rod guilde plates or self aligning rockers will be needed i would go with screw in studs with guilde plates
