Thats cool lots of saving
my friends buildin a 468 and he out of 10,000 now
   We were doing it when a lot of people didn't even know there was such a thing as aluminum heads!!!!! But did ya know you can pressurize part of your roll cage and turn it into a nitrous tank???? Or that a fuel tank inside your fuel tank can be used to hold nitro methane? Or that a full hood and a carefully designed air filter protruding through the top of it can make a set of short stack Hilborn Injectors look like 2-2 barrels? (Just finish second, put the car on the trailer and leave quickly, leave one crewman to pick up the pay check)Quote:

Disguise the tubes coming out the back of the lifter valley with a black wire loom cover so that they look like electrical wiring to the casual observer. Probably won't pass a diligent tech inspector at the track, but on grudge night at the track or on the street, nobody will see it.... Easiest to do on a single plane intake, but can be done on a dual plane too......Quote:

I really hope you will try and run either a 5.7 or a 6.0 length.
With the heads you have and the camshaft you have I.M.O. you will be in the 550 horsepower area.
Is the cam you have now cut on a small base circle??
If it is not you will have to do some grinding on the rod bolts.
There are some I- beam rods that use cap-screws.
Competion products sell these Scat 4340 I beam rods for less than $250.
All this means is the bolt screws into the rod and there is no rod nut on them.
If you don't like to grind on anything then don't build a 427 or a 434 because they are all about grinding.
Back on track with the 400 here:Quote:

Are you using a tranbrake?

Buy a police scanner and wait til it's time to get it out on the street and test it.....:LOL::LOL::LOL:
Do you know the rated stall you are using? Too small of a stall for the combo and the engine is lazy coming off the line.
A 276@.050" cam is going to need at least a 5500 rpm stall. You also need about 14:1+ compression
That cam is rated at 4400-7800 rpm. That's way too much cam for your combo of parts.
If you are wanting to turn this engine 6K rpm, sell both those cams and get a good cam for your combo. A comp 12-900-9 comes to mind. Get it on a .900 base circle though to have a little extra cam to rod clearance. I'm running this cam in a 383cid with 11:1 compression on pump gas running 10.80's. I shift at 6200 rpm. With your bigger engine, you could shift a 6000 rpm with out a problem.
Heck, I still don't understand why people don't leave the automatic trannies in Grandma's Impala and run a 5 or 6 speed so they can use the gears to keep the engine in the power range they built it to operate in???????
Now I like that . That's how I will Test My Monte Carlo . COOL :whacked:Quote:

My hot rods and my drivers are never the same car.....
Post #168 is my Point Friend . :mad:Quote:

Why would this be a problem for you???? I commented on a post question concerning stall speeds and camshafts in a Hot Rod saying that I preferred 5 or 6 speeds....... Why would this have anything to do with the fact that my Bonneville is an automatic??? I would like to trade it this summer for a G6 with a 6 speed if that's any consulation.......
Dave What ever makes you Happy . If you don't Know about some thing that's OK Really :p it's COOL where Friends
No, we're not.... What is it I'm supposed to be stupid about now???? I just prefer running manual trans in my cars..... The post didn't even concern you, and now you want to make an issue out of it.... I simply asked why more people don't run manual transmissions. More gears means you can keep the engine in the power band it was built to be operated in. Period..End of Statement...That's all I said......... Now what is it in there that makes you feel you have to get on my case AGAIN???????????
I give up with you . With all the Racing you have done ? You mean to tell me you do not know why guy's do not run stick at the Track ? . :HMMM:  Cool down Friend and be nice :whacked:
Yup, I do in fact know why we run automatics on the track. One of our cars runs a Coan Glide, the other a Vindicator built c6. However, I was talking about 5 and 6 speeds in Hot Rods.... Again, it would seem that you read things into my posts...... I am, however, really glad that you give up on me....... I'm really bored with your 12 second street car stuff....
It's like I said on another post. Just read what I write, don't read things into it......
We all can't be so fast Like you  And I am real Happy with my 12 sec cars :) Maybe with them ported heads I will drop in the high 11s ;) Man that first one Looks real good . And only 16 Hours ;) COOL
My last input on one of your arguments..... I think it is very inaccurate of you to say "We all can't be so fast like you". I would hope that evey young aspiring Hot Rodder DOES become faster then me!!!!!! I really hate to hear racers say that's all the faster they can go.... I would like to think that forums like this and many others would supply information and motivation to make racers want to go fast and not be content with what they are running now... Heck, I'm not happy with what we run now, I'd like to be running a 7.90 car... Then once we got through half a season I would want to run 6.90's, and on and on....Quote:

Tango, you have told me countless times you are perfectly happy with a 12 second car, till now you say maybe you'll be in the 11's!!!! I guarantee you that should you get in the 11's you'll want to be in the 10's, and on and on....
Saying can't be fast my like to me is a defeatist attitude and sounds like people have given up before they even challenged themselves to try!!!!!
Maybe next time you should say that you can't be as fast as me if indeed that is how you really feel... But I think it is very presumptous of you to use "we"...... I think the majority of people on here CAN build a faster car then they have now, and many of them WILL do the things necessary to go faster.....
Now, go start another senseless argument with somebody who actually cares......
I think it's best for me not to say what I think about YOU  But I hope one day you build a car that will make you Happy . Like so many of the cars I built did for me . ;) COOL
Cant we all just get along:whacked:
I will try harder :p
