Like I said before I have built 383's using a 327 block.Quote:

I think you may have missed my point about the 327 block.Quote:

To answer your question.
With a Dart block it is not un-common for the USMTS 383's,406,410's,420's to hit 8,500 to 8,800 rpm's every night they run.:)
Gassersrule-196 I really like 327 SBs and they can be built to E.T well . In the early 80s I had a gutted out 1969 Nova I would say 3200lbs . I ran a SJ 327 30-over 331 11.1 pop up pistons with a set of 202/160 64CC angel plug GM Turbo heads . And a solid lifter 540 lift cam . The intake was a Weiand team G with a Holley 750 D/P . And for a trans I had a TH400 with a 3800 stall and a 12 bolt with a 488 gear . I think this car was fast and I even broke an axle two times racing it . But I think the best it ran on HP ( I do not spray cars ) Was 12.60s . And I do think thats all It had ! I do know today we have better heads and intakes . But still don't think you would make that car run that much faster on HP . But I did have some fun on the street with that car :LOL:Quote:

May-be Lighter car bigger stall taller gear ? Tell us I real would like to hear how you built this engine ? :HMMM: COOLQuote:

What intake and carb are you running ? Are you spraying that 302 ?Quote:

The 1964 Chevy II is lighter . But that car of yours is a good runner . ;) COOLQuote:

I guess i,ll add my limited knowledge to this but yes you can build a 283 or 327 that will scream. In the 60s and 70s we did a lot of street racing (mostly because we were broke from buying parts and the strip was only open on the weekends.) We had some cars that we thought were fast at the time but i can,t remember what times they turned at the strip. Seminole build it the way you want it and don,t worry about what others think (DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.) Hey keep us posted on your progress.
