    PCV Valves

At the moment i am in the stage of doing all the plumbing to suit the 383 SBC going into my 32... I would like to kepp the valve covers clear with no breathers or oil filler so i have planned to drill and tap a hole in the rear valley of my Victor Jnr manifold to use as a PCV input and then plumb directly into the back of the carb...

Can anyone see any problems with this setup? I have based this theory on a few early small blovcks i have seen (and no not the ones with the oil filler at the front!) and i cant think of any reason why it will not work..
One problem i know of but will get over is the fact it is going to be difficult to put oil in, will probabbly just pull a valve cover to do this...

Without proper baffling, the PCV will suck oil.....Pontiac used that idea but had the Gallery cover plate baffled and it worked well.
What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

I've done a few this way as well, in addition I fab up and epoxy on a small sheet metal baffle along with a lifter valley baffle for insurance...

    Shine's setup looks good.

I can tell you from experience that you can suck oil if your valley hole is too close to the side. I used an existing hole in a 3x2 manifold(Offy) and it sucked oil. Just too close to edge of the valley not to have a baffle.

Another option would be to put the holes in the rear ends of the covers like I did on these. I didn't want anything on the top of these one-off covers so I put the PCV on the drivers side and a hose on the other connected to a puke tank with a breather.......

Will the PCV placement be OK if it is placed on the small flat section near the distributor? (im running a victor jnr) From reading the above posts it is clear i need some sort of baffle, would anyone have a picture like something i need? what is the ideal method to fix the baffle?

Thanks for your help so far guys!

you can get a grommet with the baffle on it. it is closed on bottom with an x cut into it. i've done it without the baffle . not much oil slinging in the center.

Heres's a pic of what I mentioned above...hose in back of cover to a remote puke tank with a breather...
I do have to pull a cover to fill with oil however.
