Also, A quick glance at the counter weight on the back of the crank could give you a hint. Large counter weight (where the flywheel/flexplate mounts),350. Medium, 327. Small to almost non-exsistant, 302. The bigger the stroke, the larger the counter weight.
thanks for the info i will have to pull the pan but looking at the end of the crank i would say its a 350 i was hoping somebody could tell me what it is and what it was out of with the numbers on the front of the block (v001090nv) the v0 and nv is a letter number i have never seen befor i cant find it anywere thanks again for all the help
What is the code on the block pad in front of the passenger side head? A 69 302 code is DZ, the most famous block code of all Chevys.

i thought the 302 was a dz the numers on the block in front of the head is voo1o9onv i have never seen or heard of the nv code thanks
IF this is on the pad that is part of the head surface, just in front of the passenger head, there should be one or two lines stamped (not cast) on this pad. NV is a code for a 283 truck engine from 1961 and would not be on a 010 block casting. Make sure that the stamped numbers are what you are looking at....not cast.

Without casting dates from the rear of the block, it's hard decipher the code as represented. The only code that comes close in my 1974 GM identifier comes up with is CNV 250 hp 350. Book goes back to '67. Is the stamping clear and the o is not a c?
to be sure you are looking in the right spot, go here for an explanation:

Nitro is right, CNV is a 1970 Impala 350 engine 2bbl automatic trans
damn near anybody with an 010 block will try to sell it to someone with them assuming its a 302. one of the biggest scams going.
