Starter keeps coming loose
Guys,
Have any of you heard of this problem ? I can tighten this starter up tight, she'll fire up fine for a a while, then once she loosens a bit, she chatters on the flexplate. I really don't want to resort locktite if I have to. And I am using lockwashers, new ones. And tips ??? I also, replaced the starter too.
I did just install a new distributor, 6al box, and a Blaster coil.

I'd pick up some new starter bolts, the correct Chevy ones with knurling on them, and torque them to about 30 lbs (if memory serves me correctly). They usually have no lock washers, just a flanged head.

In addition to what Itoldyouso said, Chevy starters are supposed to have a bracket that supports the rear of the starter. One end of the bracket attaches to the threaded stud at the top rear of the starter. The other end bolts to a threaded boss just below the head deck. CAUTION! If a starter is not securley attached it can jam up and destroy itself and/or the engine block.
