who me? no! i have a SMJ 327 waiting to have mean things done to it:3dSMILE:
Why not just bore the 283 .030 and build a 287. Back in the days of NHRA Modified Eliminator the 287s cranked. In lbs per cubic inch the 287 should a little quicker.
Bob
I believe what you say as long as you don't start talking about a 12,500 rpm 302.L.O.LQuote:

I just don't want to be around Scooter when you rap that thing that high.
does any body watch f1? they hittin 19,5 on the straight aways. indy cars are ohv they hit massive rpm's you guys are sheltered  so i guess this means big blocks hitting 7k is unbelievable to? pro stock hits 9500 !
The big block ford guys are reving to almost 10,000 rpm on cheap parts.....5 or 6 grand tops in money spent:D stock block / and heads.
I can see 12,500 rpm for about 8 or 9 grand on a small block.
I just watched a you tube vid of a guy on the engine dyno turn 18,000 rpm on a small block ,......but it was a 40,000 dollar motor built to do that rpm.
No small block chevy will go 18,000 rpm..... Set the tach on 4 cylinders and impress your friends!!!! I've ran big block Fords for years, never seen one go 10 grand, let alone on cheap parts!!!!!
F1, Pro Stock, NASCAR, and a lot of the pro cars do run lots of rpm.... But in technology, component design, and metals used they are light years ahead of a 283 chebbie.....
i guarantee this guy hits more then 8500 rpm's! with his 283 he runs 9.90's checked into that 2 events in a row he was #1 qualifier, true he most likely has what i have into the whole car into his motor but he can do it. its not impossible! http://youtube.com/watch?v=bAFfqoIkavM

a guy i used to work with used to race comp eliminator in nhra in california his 351 ford used to tun 8500+ with his lenco mustang youg uys just havent courage to go for the gusto if you scatter it you scatter go back look see why it did it and fix the problem  :P
Oh Scooter-Man, you're such a brute....tsk, tsk.
