Im looking to make a respectable street motor...somewhere around 300 to 350 horses. Judging by the cyllinder that was rusty, im almost inclined to say that it will indeed need a bore job. If I can get away with just a hone like you said that would be great, Ill be sure to ask my machinist what he thinks, provided that he's an honest guy. Thanks.

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
