I am putting together a 383 stroker engine mated to a muncie 4-speed.
I am having starter fit issues??
the engine block is a 1979 chevy truck block. Made into a 383 stroker engine
I have an allum. gm "621" bellhousing mated to a muncie m-20 4-speed.
I am running a 168 tooth flywheel. i went to the local parts store and requested a starter to fit a 79 chevy truck. got home and it seems the "cone" is to large in liameter and will not fit all the way in to bolt up. Also it is the "stagger" hole type block/starter. It seems like the starter frt cone is too large in diameter to fit the allum. bellhousing? I went back to store today and got a small cone starter and it as well will not fit. It is a little shorter but i think it is the same diameter??
Any one have suggestions? what do I have wrong? Any suggestions on if there are diff. cone sizes i can get or where? Or do I just need to ask for a different application of a starter?
