Cam's in the mail!
Well I ordered the cam for my motor today. I had originally picked out a 224/224@.050" .465"/.465" lift hydraulic flat tappet cam, but the guy at Renegade racing recommended, after a series of questions about what I want the car to perform like, a cam with the profile in the range of 230@.050" and ".480 lift. Those figures aren't "to-the-number" but that's the range that it is in. I thought about it for an hour or so and decided that it isn't that much bigger, but it might make the car run stronger so I went for it. Also ordered ROL head gaskets, 4.200" bore, .045" thickness, and a set of 7.800" length, .075" wall thickness one piece push rods. Also have a trick kit for my 750 Holley coming next week.
Only thing I'm missing now is a can of laquer thinner and some lintless rags :)

I sure hope your cam shows up in better shape than mine did....
Thank you UPS....

I have to say, if my camshaft shows up looking like that (which it shouldn't because the company that I ordered from, I've also bought about 2500 dollars worth of parts in the past and they always box their parts in bigger boxes and put those packing peanuts and/or paper packing around the parts) I think the UPS man will be eating that camshaft. There's no excuse for a metal shaft to be broken in half on its way from their door to mine. The UPS center in our area is generally pretty good though, I had a bunch of gaskets that I special ordered for a '69 318 dodge that came in a manilla envelope, no seal or anything like that and the envelope wasn't even wrinkled. (It was shipped from Kansas City, MO to my doorstep in Lawton/Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.)

The cam was purchased through a reputable supplier and shipped in a larger well packed box as well. It was replaced with no hassles at all.
All I’m telling you is UPS is damn good at what they do……:whacked:

The specs sound similar or the same as a CompCams Magnum 280, which I run in my 383. I like it a lot, and its not as hard on valves as their XE line.
