Head shaving???
I was talkin to my local speed shop about ideas in heads and he suggested machining(shaving) the bottom of the heads. the heads I have Now are 1977 74cc and he said he could take them down to 70cc or more to give me a better compression to still run pump gas(canadian pump gas it sucks!!!) as well as saving money rather than buying other heads.
good or bad idea and is it worth it....

Oh. I thought this thread was about skinheads. I'd say go for it. If you don't like it it'll grow back.
Are these heads on the 56 Pontiac engine or a 1977 Chevy engine? If it's a chevy you would gain more power by switching to earlier (pre smog controlled) heads. With a little luck you can find them for less money than milling (or shaving) the heads.

Most double hump heads are good, if you can find them, they flow good and are small combustion chambers, How about a thinner head gasket? ever thought of that, steel shim?
