hi u all!The thing is i bought this motor from a guy a 383 i put it in my 72 nova and went to the track made about 4 pass. The 5 pass i overwand it the piston went hit the head and fucked up a rod and piston and the block.it had set of speed pro piston .100 dome a .640/.645 roller comp cam.pro magnum roller rockers.the thing is i want to put it back together what will i have to do to a new block and one new rod if i put it back together the crank was fine but do u think that cam will work well a set of speed pro 2 relief flat tops piston i beleave clearance was a problem what do u all think

The only real way to know what you need to do is tear it down to see what kind of damage was done......

i did. everthing else was all right number 6 cylinder was the only one messed up

383's are usually a .030 over cylinder bore. you will have to determine that before cramming the pistons in a new block. check your crank for a nick or gauge also. they tend to get beat up also from a hit like that.

Take the block to a machine shop and have them assess the damage. You may be able to sleeve the bad cylinder and rebalance the assembly with the new rod and piston. Next time, you might want to install a MSD box with a rev limiter.
