engine help

hey guys hows it goin. i have a gm 350 300 hp crate motor 9.1 1 cr im gonna put a set of DART IRON EAGLE Platinum series cylinder heads 64 cc 200 cc runner 2.02 valves springs good to .525" lift i also have a set of 1.6 roller rockers im looking for a cam for this engine i want a street strip engine ineed lowend tq but i would like a good bit of power id love 450 hp an close to that in tq. is this posible with out changine any pisons or any thing major like that i think the pistons have a slight dish to them. i will switch in take an carb as need thank you very much any info will help greatly.

p.s. this is my first engine on my own

Nice idea...you're headed on the right track. Be careful of the 1.6's because they change the geometry of your valve train and will wipe out valve guides and bang valves against pistons if you don't spend the time to check clearance and triple check pushrod lengths, etc. Good geometry all the way around is free horsepower and keeps you running a lot smoother as far as maintnance and breakdown. I don't see why your ideas wouldn't work to achieve your goal, just worry about all the geometry first. You're gonna have some fun.

The 200 cc heads are to large.
I would try a set of 180 cc heads to 6,500 rpm's.
165 cc heads for less than 6,000 rpm's.

Great "puller for a medium to heavy car. Poor vacuum at idle for accessories, a bit lopey but if you have a stick instead of an automatic, could work. If you're really going for the numbers you first mentioned, it will achieve them. To be a bit more tunable, degree the cam to the card they supply, make sure it has a good exhaust system and be patient with carburation because it will get sensitive to the combos you have. What are the heads? You sure you wanna go 200? I like the 180 idea mentioned earlier. Intake manifold will make a difference on idle to full band will make it change for sensitivity. Ignition curves will have to be painstakingly observed (be patient). Make sure you don't assume a plain jane valve job is sufficient. Too many machining process will go a long way towards achieving your goal. Geometry, geometry, geometry.....that's the key. A torque converter in your choice of automatic (if this is your set-up) needs to bit a touch loose compared to the stock one. Hope this helps.

i would like pump gas only lookin for about 450 its just stock rods an crank

carb will be a 750 holley

not sure what intake (any ideas)

exhaust is hooker comp headers with 2.5 into an xpipe then 2 flowmaster 40's just dump off no tails

If you are using 1.6 rockers your lift will be a lot higher, make sure your springs are good for that amount. good luck.

That cam is way too big for the 9.1-1 compression ratio. You need to look for a cam that will work with what you have, or swap the pistons for 10.5-11 to 1 pistons to use the cam you listed. Look on the camshaft sites of comp and crane, they have minimum compression ratio's listed for each cam. A comp 270H magnum cam with .015" head gaskets would work good with what you have. Try that with the 180cc Dart heads.

9.1 compression with a 110 lobe seperation with 3:73 gears and a 300 stall. Could still work. He hasn't got power brakes and we still don't know who ground the cam. Might be milder than the spec card (most usually are). Any doubt, go with Elko's recommendation. And the .015 Gasket set up could give a slight help if cam is properly degreed. I'm assuming the existing squish is approximately .038-.044. Would be nice to have a bit more tech on the components.

Take 20 degree's off the cam at .050 and you will be much closer.
Second get rid of the 750 carb. you won't need.
With the smaller cam you should be done at or before 5,500 rpms.
Look at the 600 vac. carb.
