550 with cast heads. give or take, all head castings weigh a little diffrent.
thanks guys what about with alum. heads and intake.
Forget the 'small block' Get your self a 500 inch Caddy, aluminum manifold, headers, etc. which is almost the same weight! <or> a 455 Olds, Buick or a Poncho!
Be different! How many 'small blocks' do you see at cruises? At the drags?
Put a stick behind it and THEN cruise the strip!
But that's just my opinion.....

I believe it is about 40 pounds less with aluminum heads, probably 12 to 15 pounds additional weight savings for the intake.... Hopefull the Chevy guys with the accurate weights will jump in here.... My experience is with the Ford Windsor's.... Kind of guesstimating on the Chevy stuff.
well as a matter of fact i have a 500 caddy but it will be hard enough to stuff a small block in a SUZUKI SAMURI let alone the big caddy.
you can't put a stick behind a 500" caddy without a lot of custom fab. they were never meant for manuals, so the parts to do such, is not available. custom would be the only way to do it.Quote:

cool i wont add to much weight then. thanks guys.
to bolt up a caddy to a manual you have to drill a hole in the crank for the pilot bearing
