something loose?

Might be an idea to patch it up, just to get it home. At the moment the vehicle is about a hundred miles from home, and I'm certainly not doing a hundred miles with a loose rod bolt, probably wouldn't even get as far :LOL:
And I don't see why I should farm out a load of dosh to get it done by a proper shop near where it's standing (there's one about 3 miles away), if I can do it myself at home.
I've also thought about a stroker kit, but that isn't allowed here in Germany. Don't think anyone would ever notice, and I have already got some goodies in it, but the Germans are quite strikt when it gets to tuning engines yourself: everything has to have a number and a spec-sheet to prove your emissions won't get worse :mad: And emissions have to be checked every year.
I'm running on LPG anyway, firstly because of the price and second because of the environment. OK, I admit it, first is the important thing, but second is a scorer with girls :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:
As some people always say: it's best to look at even the worst things with humor, so that's what I'm doing.

There's other reasons, too: I use my van as a tour-bus for my band (which is the next scorer :toocool: )
No, for real, I just like big cars, there are so many small sporty cars here in Germany, what with Japanese rubish everywhere. But a beaten old van laying rubber at stop lights is a sight you don't often get here. And it's good fun cruising around and things. But heck, you know why we drive V8s :)
But all this only counts for big cars with V8 engines which do actually MOVE :mad:
I don't like cars that don't MOVE. That about sums it up. So let's get this whale back on the road, that's what I say...

Right, now I've found something out: the source of vibration seems to have been a bent flexplate, the clanging sound seems to have been its loseness. Good thing, because I don't have to buy many new parts. Bad thing is, I only found it out, because I found absolutely nothing wrong with my engine internals, all crank and rod-bolts nice and tight. Spun on a balancing stand my FP showed a considerable bend to it, which it didn'T in the car, seems the TC was holding my FP straight. Now that's something you don't want. But as a lesson to everybody who's as dumb as me: a bend in a FP doesn't necesserily show up properly in the car...
At least I don't have to take my crank to the grinder's. But I will still get a new flexplate and I think I'll turn the old one into a barbeque-charcoal-holder. I've got an old sungear-shell lying around somewhere to use as a stand. Then I might as well hotrod my BBQ-skills for the summer :toocool:
