Cam swap or not...

I have a SBC 355 with Vortec heads, 9.7 cr, Holley 750dp, RPM Air Gap intake and a Comp Cams 280H cam. This engine was used in a 78 Malibu I used to drag race. That car had a 4.56 rear and a 3000 stall. It ran very well and I shifted at 6000. I now want to put this motor in a 71 Chevelle to use on the weekends for street use with maybe an occasional strip run. Question is: the 71 Chevelle will have 3.73 gears and a 2500 stall. Should I keep the Magnum 280H cam, .230 dur @ .050 and .480/.480 lift, or switch to a smaller Voodoo 60102 or 60103 or even a Comp XE262H or XE268H cam ? Any suggestions????

i have a .530 lift .230 duration @ .50 cam in my 352 galaxie right now....i drive it everyday, but i like having that huge cam bc im 18 and i like having the loud camming v8 at the redlights haha. i would leave that cam in .230 is a lot of duration and .480 isnt really a crazy extreme lift but its not all that small either. if you dont mind it camming at idle then i think you would be fine with that cam

I would run try to run a cam that favors the exhaust side by 6 or more degree's.
A good example would be something like a comp. cam xe 268 .477/.480 lift and a duration of 224/230 at .050.
Also your carb is to big.
Try a 600 at the largest for a carb.
