Hey Charlie I did the same thing, must be something they put in our water.
I also have to agree with the rubber gasket on the back of the intake. Notorious if you don't tack them down on the corners where the heads meet the block with a dab of Copper or Black RTV.
well i had a fresh motor leak athe rear of the block under the head both head gaskets were leaking this was a rebuilt motor not sure but i thought i would throw it up there for you even thought you said its leaking by the distubitor

whats up everyone! pulled off the manifold and sure enough the rear gasket was rotted out and leaking. decided to replace the heads also and found the back cylinder on the driver side was not firing. the plug was full of oil, the cylinder appears to be fine but I can see oil draining on the valve shafts through the heads. Is this what caused the plug to foul? or do I have other problems like the piston rings etc???
Well its to late now you should have taken a compression test before taking it apart. If it were me I'd get the heads done and put it back together. At least you'll be able to drive it and if your lucky it will be OK:3dSMILE: Glad that it was a simple problem. If the engine is out you may want to look at your timing chain.
so it had a rotten rear manifold gasket, and bad valve oil seals on the rear cylinder.
Pull that bast and build it proper.
