i was at a High perf. shop today an i was gettin my cam for the 305 motor me an the guy was talkin bout some small other up grades i can do to the motor an yes stroking it came out of his mouth but he also said a small shot of NOS like a 50 hp shot would do the trick as well what do you guys think

an i copped me some vortecs head while i was there this should give me the boost i really need from this 305
-
would this be a lil nice set up for the 305 something small but still puts out a nice punch for under a few buxs
-
from what i know its fine but i was going to do a bottom end rebuild to make sure i was fine wit the 50-75 shot an also would the vortec heads help me alot as well

....I had an '84 Camaro with a cam, chip, cold air package & a 305 with nitrous and had no problems at the 100 HP level, no problems at the 125 HP level & no problems at the 150 level...... Oh yeah, don't try the 175 level like I did :(.... Of course the good news was that then I had a 413 small block built for it ;).... So anyway the moral of this story is that unless your ready to built a new motor don't try the 175 level ;0.... Nitrous is habit forming, with just a small wrench & 15 minutes of your time you can have MORE HP!!! ... Be Carefull..... I also had a seperate fuel supply for the nitrous & had the timming retarted.....With a 50 to 75 shot you'll be just fine..... Bill

As long as the bottom end is tight and put together right, can't see where a 50 horse shot would hurt a thing......Just avoid the temptaion to use those bigger nitrous jets!!!!!!!!!   Even though YOU KNOW that if a 50 horse shot is nice, then a 100 horse shot is nicer, and if a 100 horse shot is nice, then a ........... Or as Bill said, right up to gernade time. But when the new engine is ready anyway.....WHY NOT?
