i was going to build me a 383 i just really want to build somthing with about 375hp or 400hp with the things i have.I have a 350 4bolt main bored 60 over speed-pro flat top 2 valve relief trw floating rods and a set of double hump heads with the 2.02/1.60 valves and the 1.5 roller rockers and a lunati mechanical .517/.543 left i have not got me no intake or stall to match the cam. i want to shave the block is that a good thing or a bad thing and could u all give me som good tips to what i need to do to make the hp i would like with the things i have. THINKS

Your of to a good start, I did a thread a while back on how to get 360 + HP on these forums, it is pretty pic intensive, but it gives all the details. Deck the block for almost .000 deck height, this this increases squish as well as compression, run the .032 compressed thickness head gasket. Run a victor junior and a Holley 750 cfm carb for mid to top range hp. What type of auto are you running ?

Victor JR is only good for the track, correct? Why not a Weiand stealth,or the like.Its good from idle ,and can breath up to 6500-7000 rpm.Victor is good 3000,3500-7000.Thinks

Nope !! can be used on the street in some cases, depends whaqt it is going into and type of cam, since this is a mechanical cam, the junior will do the job.

I would run a 3,500 stall.

The cam has a basic power band of 3000 to 6,500.
An RPM Performer will work.
It makes power from 1,500 to 6,500.
The Victor JR. makes power from 3,500 to 8,000.

will i have any problem with any thing hitting each other if i shave the block

I.M.O.,I would never build a "zero deck height" engine for a street car.
Once you "zero deck" a block there is no putting back the metal once you remove it.
I would "deck" the block only enough to makes sure it is flat.
Yes,you will need to check piston to valve clearance.

not a daily driver run at the track on the week ends

My suggestion is talk to your machinist.
I hope you have one!
Guys that machine 350's for stroking to a 383 are a treasure cove of info.
If you are paying the man to do the work, ask many many questions!
they will give you advise. You paid for it!

Oh ya ,then a Victor JR is a good choice in a light car.

just what will u all do with it if u all had the motor and the things i have and u wanted to use everything i had be real

Guess I'd get the parts that would make it work the best possible, then save the rest for another project.... That's probably why I have such a huge selection of not used and barely ever used and didn't work parts laying around!!!!!!
