To awnser your last question accurately we would probably need to know, how much experience have you had with building up SBC's and how many $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ have you got. Not getting at you, but we are trying to keep it realistic here. M ;)
Replace and keep?
Would need to lay my hands on what you have.
What you have may be good stuff but without close inspection it's a bit hard to say chunk this and keep that.
Building a good engine isn't just slapping parts together, things have got to go together as a unit. Each little piece acts on another, they have to WORK together.
Like I said before, talk to a machinist who builds these type motors. They know all about the the spinning parts.
They can recomend cams, heads, pistons, head gaskets, and the like.
Once you have that info, come here and ask the group what they would do.
I had a machinist that was a dirt track racer, he recomended a cam for my 383 that would have caused me much grief if I drove it on the street. It was a nice cam but not for the street.
Get as much info as you can from all places before you strat throwing stuff away or spending your bucks for non matching parts.
Or better yet, sell your parts and buy a crate engine!
ok i will do that
i will do that
