Thermostat leaking
I'm starting to put a new crate 350 in my 84 GMC. The last engine I put in I had trouble with the thermostat housing leaking. Also the front bolts in the intake leaked coolant. I want to end this problem with the new engine. The last engine I used new ARP manifold bolts and used thread sealer on all bolts going into a water passage. I also swapped the t-stat housing and I still had coolant leaks. This time around I have an o-ring type t-stat housing and new ARP bolts. I have had the suggestion to use stock Chevorlet manifold bolts but no other suggestions.
Thanks

Parts store special, teflon thread tape. I wanted to try either Loctite or Permatex liquid thread sealer but I forgot to buy some when I went to the parts store.

I'm not sure what Denny will say, but if it was mine I'd 86 the teflon tape and go with loctite.

Thanks I'll try that. I experimented with RTV on threads when I put a water pump on my little sister's Nissan truck. I didn't get a complaint from her know it all boy friend so it might have worked. One more question. I used gasket shellac on my intake gaskets last time. Now I cant get the intake off. Yeah I know now that it was a little overboard but my dad swears by the stuff. How do I get the intake off. Its an aluminum Edelbrock Performer, and I dont want it breaking in the removal proccess.
