mild 350 project
i am wanting to build this 350 i had gotten from my mechanics teacher at school.....he was getting rid of about 8 engines, mostly ford, and i took the one chevy as he had no idea what it was or what condition it was in. got it home and it turns out to be a freshly honed 350 2 bolt block with cast dished pistons, a cast crank and 487 heads with new stock valvesprings/guides and seals with freshly ground valves. i am wanting to get a set of flat top hypereutectic pistons and powdered rods while using the stock crank if i cannot find a steel crank and i want to get an edelbrock performer intake and an edelbrock 600 carb(cost a case of beer from my bro) and finally a hydraulic lunati voodoo cam kit with 454.''/.468'' lift, 213/219 duration @.050 and 112/108 lobe sep./intake centerline. my question is that if this setup will make for power/torque and if it will work well in a g-body car with 3.42-37.3s with th-350 with shift kit and if the cam will work with stock vavle train and if i should get some head porting done to clean up slag and maybe a performance valve job.
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
