Common Sbc Myth's
1.a Stock Sbc Will Not Turn To 10,000.
2.you Can't Build A 500 Hp Sbc For $500.
3.if They Say They Have A 500 Hp Sbc And You Notice The Stock Q,and Stock Cast Iron Intake Don't Be To Surprised.
4.your Street Car With Stock Suspension, With 250 Rwhp Will Not "wheelie" With 6.in Tires.
5.if Some One Bets You That You Can't Grab The $20 Off The Dash Because The Car "pull's " So Hard Take The Bet.
O.k,the Last One Applies To All Street Cars.

I don't think you guys believe me, but, a good 283 with the 151 cam and dual four barrels will really scream. Just set them up right and off you go.
My 65 Chevelle 4 door wagon would go 8000 rpm with hyd lifters. Starting line rpm was 7200. Those short stroke engines will really buzz.
I posted pics of my 57 and the wagon in my photos.

Yup, I believe ya. One of my Mav's had a 289 and did the same thing, but it was with a steel crank, aluminum rods, mechanical roller cam, triple valves springs, stainless tulip valves, moly roller rockers and balanced to with a knat's butt of perfect....
I doubt anything less then a real radical built sbc is going to do it a lot of times without gernading....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Learning must be difficult for those who already know it all!!!!

If you are refering to the 350 horse 327 cam in a 327 it was done making power by approx. 6000 rpm's .In a 283 you might pick up another 300-400 rpm's after that you might spin the engine tighter not making any hp until you will float the valves.
