Luckily, the oil still sitting on the head looks like it is still oil, not the milk shake so far. I will drain it all and check for sure. Maybe I got lucky and there is just a bit in the pan.

Yes but if left to settel out it goes to the bottom. Drain change filter, run drain change filter.Replacing oil each time you replace filter. I've done that a lot of time when head gaskets blow and never once did I spin a brg. Just lucky I guess.
