well first what kind of car is it going in? also how much money are you looking to spend on this motor? the first thing i would tell you would be to get a 350 but i understand that this was your grandpa's car. would you ever consider pulling out the 305 and sitting it on a shelf, and buying a 350? and building it, that way if it ever broke or blew up it wouldnt be the motor that you grandpa had. but if you are dead set on the 305 we are going to need to know how much money you are looking to spend and what kind of motor you want, are you gonna want to drive it on the street, do you want a motor that is going to rev and make power at high rpms or a motor that makes low end torque, low end torque isnt going to be easily accomplished with a 305, i would build a reving motor

ok i would bore it out, talk to your machine shop about how far over you will be able to go, also you might want to see about getting some heads from GM perfomance, i think summit sells some for $500 i think they are vortec heads but im not sure im a ford man but some of the other guys on here will know. but you could get some headers, just call summit, dont go crazy big, anything with 2 1/2in collectors should be fine. then you will want an intake, prob something with a high rise, you wont be worried about torque with a 305 i would look at edelbrock, as for a cam look at comp cams i would get something with about .480 to .500 lift and .200 to .220 lift @ .50 there should be a measurement @ .50 that is what you want to look for, not advertised duration. i would put in some 10:1 compression pistions, and make sure you get some new valve springs to handle all that valve lift, comp should be able to sell you everything you needHonda Motor= 1.6L

Both are equally terrifying.

Here are some 305 buildups that I have kept as favorites for a while. Maybe you can get some good out of them. http://www.goingfaster.com/spo/325_h...3hp/343hp.html

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
