So say ya have a cam with a .480 lift and you go from a 1.5 ratio arm to a 1.6 ? How does this cahnge the lift does it go to like .500 lift or what . Im wanting a quick change as im not ready to yank the cam out yet as ive only got 2,000 miles on this crate engine and it runs pretty dang good anyhow just want a bit more here and the it all ads up

Well, I know that when you change from 1.5 to 1.6 rockers that you increase the ratio by .1 . To figure out how much that changes your lift you take your lift [.480] and divide that by 1.5 to get your cam lobe lift, then you can multiply that by 1.6 to get what your valve lift will be. Hence, .480 / 1.5=.320. This is your lift on the cam lobe. .320 x 1.6= .512. This is what the 1.6 rockers will change your valve lift to. As I have found out from experience when you change ratios like that you have to check out some things like valve to piston clearance and pushrod clearance through the holes in the head. I had to open up the holes in mine so my rods wouldn't rub. Also need to check the geometry on the pushrod-rocker-valve tip connections to see that you aren't having the rocker tip riding too close to the edge of valve tip- eithier way. Being as I am kinda a rookie on this some of the more experienced rodders on the site might correct me on this but think I'm pretty close. I got mine bout right I think cause everythings working pretty good. It did help some but it also makes mr. motor a little more thirsty. Hope this helps. Would like to help as I've been helped.
