If its not on ANY of the journals, I'd just sand it down and then when your done make sure it gets as clean as possible. Blow the oiling holes out and stuff with some carb cleaner and air because that rust can get in those holes too. Then what do u have? Bearing issues, that's what.
I dunno that it'd trust putting a rusty crank in my engine, especially if it's a high performance engine.
I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
