I need to freshen up ( new bearings and seals ) on my 671. Is this a procedure that a backyard mechanic can do or does it need to be sent away to a legit repair station ? appreciate any help or guidance.

I would send it off to a blower shop, I tried to rebuilt my own blower and it didnt come out right and had to end up sending it to a blower shop
i put bearings in my GM 6-71's. mark the gears, so you can put them back on the way they came off. i called one of the bearings places and gave them the # off of the bearings, and never talked to a blower place. i always bought old blowers anyway and put new end plates on them myself.
The biggest problem I ever had was finding feeler gauges long enough to check the "beater" clearance.Quote:
