The whole point was to show how a bigger cubic inch SMALL BLOCK CHEVY would be a better build for a pump gas street engine. You could build it milder, turn it less, have more bottom end torque to run a higher gear, and it would last longer. No one said you couldn't build a 283, just that more cubes is money better spent. I don't care who you are, you will have a hard time and spend more money to build a 283 to hang with a 383 in a 3000lb car on the street running pump gas. Don't tell me you can do it, post the combo.Ken Thomas
