valve tapping now smoking
This is a continued story on what I assumed to be lifters tapping. Now the engine continues to tap and blue smoke has started to come out of the exhaust. This is on an engine that has recently been rebuilt, 1000 miles, by a " true Chevy Pro", according to the last owner. I'll have to do a compression check. The description on the work on the engine was as follows ,"The engine has been completely redone by a true chevy pro, 350 4 bolt main block, bored .30. New cam bearings, flat top pistons Kreth Block, X rods prepped ARP rod bolts. Crank Chevy race prepped 350. Mellings High Volt oil pump with steel sleeve. Comp Cam 292 Magnum. Comp lifters. Double roller timing chain. The heads are 1:94 reline size, 3 angle valve job. New Valves, studs pinned and rocker rollers. If the compression readings are consistant, should I pull the heads and take them to a machine shop to have them checked?
".......So sanded it all down and resprayed. ......" Been there. done that on a couple of paint jobs over the years. Usually took me a couple of days to get over being mad before I started...
