350 chevy
My sister has a 68 camaro with a 350 in it the number is 3970010 I went to mortec.com and they said it was a number that stood for 69 thru 80 years of the 350.I have not got to look at the suffix code yet if I am right that is what is called I think. But I know ford in the late sixties would change around parts from what I have heard. My question is did chevy do the same, could this be the original engine that came in the car.I have decoded the data plate on the firewall and it said it was made in november of 68 so could this be a 69 engine in a 68 camaro since it was made late in the year. I don't know the answer to your question but I have seen a lot of inacurate info between different casting number charts. I've seen that casting number listed as starting in 69 and others say 68.
You really need the engine id number from the flange.
