I have a 350 with flowtech terminator headers. My #6 plug is so close to the pipe that it melts a hole in the end of the plug wire. What can I do to stop this?

I had the same problem with my nova. I got some wire sleeves from summit racing part # dei-010602 they have some differant colors and they run like 40 dollars. They solved my problems, give them a try.
As in the previous post, they are a fiberglass or kevlar sleeve that keeps the heat away.........they do work, they also make a kit for covering the starter motor. after you get these installed check your carb tuning, an excessively lean condition will run the headers too hot..........
Check out taylorvertex.com they got everything for your problem
I have used these and they work good.

Accel Shorty header plugs solves my problem with melting my caps. They cost a lil more than regular AC or whatever plugs but they work well. Just cross em over from your regular name brand and plug number. Probably can be found at your local parts store and for sure at any major mail order.... www.jegs.comQuote:

I run 1.75 Hooker headers in my 72 Nova. When I did the engine compartment over I wanted to hide as much wiring as possible so I ran the plug wires down under the headers instead of over the top. I have angle plug heads and the wires don't even come close to touching. I use the 90 degree plug ends along with short plugs. You can buy plactic numbers to put on the wires if you are concerned about identifying which wire goes where if you pull them all off at once. I wish I thought of doing it years ago. I made a brace on each side to keep the wires from contacting the headers from underneath.
Thanks for all the help. A store here sells the heat shield by the inch so I got a 6" piece for that plug wire and problem solved.
