Has any one on this list put a 350 crank in a 400 small block ?
If so is it better than using a 400 crank ?
I am using the motor for street use and want good millage .
DON'T DO IT.. That is a high RPM hp engine combo. What
I mean by that is it doesn't start making power until your in the
upper RPM range. That would suck on a street engine because
you would have low bottom end torque which is what is needed
for the street. However, with the right gears, high stall or
manual gearbox, and a light vehicle, a 377 will scream. But for a
street motor it sounds like you have a 400 you could build. I
would make that a 406 with a 0.030 overbore and at least
a 5.7 rod torque monstor. You can get order a kit that has a
better cast crank, good rods, and pistons and rings for under a
$700 and have an awsome street motor. Or if your on a tight
budget you could rework stock 350 rods with ARP bolts and
and honed pretty cheap at your machine shop. Then just order
piston for the 406 with 5.7 rod. Throw on some decent heads
vortec and have a killer torque monstor.
