I bought a new set of World Products assembled S/R heads with screw in studs and a set of long slot stamped rocker arms for them. I was trying to install the rocker arms onto the heads but I got kind of worried when the nuts didn't spin on freely to the rocker arm studs. They just seem a little harder to turn than I would expect them to with everything being new. Is this normal? (This is my first engine assembly)
Rocker arm retaining nuts are designed to stay in place for thousands of miles - millions, may be billions of cycles. And unlike a nut that is pulled up tight against a solid surface, rocker arm nuts are located somewhere on a stud. So yes, the engineers have established a very tight interface with the studs. It takes a little torque to screw them down. But once in place they don't move.
