4.3 to 350 questions

i already know headers and all that but my question is electrical. My 92 1500 has a TBI 4.3 and im switching to a carbeurated 350. do i need a new computer? and a friend told me theres some kind of fuel governor that will shut the 350 off at 4250rpm. that was in an s10, is it the same for my full size? and do i even need any of this with a carb?

if you're going to a 350 carb. with HEI dist. you won't need a computer. put a 6 lb. fuel pump on it and ride. or make your elec. fuel pump hot with key on and put a reg. in the line you have.

wont my 350 bolt up in the same mounts as the 4.3? and will i have to do any modifications to my truck?

i've never did that swap, but i'm gonna say the 350 should set in there without a problem. the exhaust y-pipe might be dif. but its a easy swap. i cant think of any modifications to the truck though.

exhaust is nothing i want open headers lol .will i have to move the trans crossmember back to make up the length of the 350?

i dont know what trans. you have now, but here is a chart of the dif. trans. ill let you tell me.

wait...my trans now shifts real late (the bad way slipping!) will one of those shift kits solve this problem?

if its sliped a lot, it will ware the fiber off the clutches and then they need to replaced. the kit wouldnt help.

just about everything from 1970 to about 1990. rear wheel drive.

find a good use one , or some guy said he bought a new one on e bay for like 165.00 might check that.

is it true they put limited slip 10 bolts in trucks? im pretty sure mines limited slip. if im not gonna posi mine im probaly gonna find a 12 bolt

you need to check it they did put a lot of them in trucks. my s10 had it from the factory.

jack both rear wheels off the ground and turn one of them and if the other one turns the same way then its posi. take the trans. out of park.

ive did that on round track race cars. dont work on the st. cant turn corners to good. well its passed my bed time see you tomorrow.

The trans X-member is the same, V8 or V6. It's the front mounts need changing. What vehicle are you doing this to? If they came with V8's just find one and strip what you need.

LT1s10, even if i end up putting the motor say in a third gen. camaro or firebird can i still overlook the computer by running a carb?

far as making the motor crank and run no. you won't need a computer, if you use a carb. and hei dist.

i have a 1993 firbird i need to sell lt1, hi miles but runs good. i bought it to do another s10 but my health wont let me. looks and drive good, 170,00 miles. take the speedometer out of it you would think 75 80.000 miles.

lynchburg, va. the car is not here and i went to take some pic. of it today and my cam. bat. was dead ill get some pic. monday. almost new tires, new bat, new 500.00 dist. paint 6 mo. old. if you know someone that wanted a lt1 complete 700r4 trans, you wouldnt have anything in the car.

hmmm i think ill stick with my truck but i might know someone who will want the car. Ill ask them as soon as i see them.
would you happen to know what kind of engine mounts id need for my truck? or do i even need new ones. i was told the 4.3 mounts will work.
