I have a stock 283 with a HEI distributor. I am having trouble setting the timing. The recomendation that I have been given is 10 degrees BTDC The engine runs sluggish around 4-6 degrees BTDC. Near 10 degree the engine runs hotter than normal. If any one is familiar with the stock 283 in a 1963 Impala could you please provide some assistance?
