Headlights
Hello All - I have another one for you..........
I have a 1964 Impala with a 283 SB in it. When I leave the headlights on Low beams, I noticed that the element on both of the high beam bulbs are slightly glowing and never stop.........
I checked the high beam switch and it's fine. I've also replaced all four headlights....HELP!
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
James

Gotta agree with Streets... Bad Ground
-
do you have a picture of where the ground is? I'm trying to think of where the "Core Support" is?
Thanks,
James

Core support is the large panel that goes across the front of the engine compartment. It supports the readiator core, one of those logically named components once you have all the terminology. It's also the attachment point for many other components. There should be a small wire with terminal ends that goes from your headlamp housing to the support on each side.

AHH.......the big cross piece that the "Hood Bumpers" screw into???? You say there's TWO wires? One on each side? Are
they both grounds?
-
Sorry, should have been more clear. Yes, there should be at least one on each side, going from the lamp housing to the support, or from one of the wires off the loom that plugs into the back of the lamp. I don't know the layout of your specific car, so it will take some extrapolation of the concept here unless someone out there has the same car as you. But there should be a terminal end screwed to the support in that area.

Whoops, I think I went to fix where I had typed negative and wanted postive. So, I changed the first negative I saw to positive, and it was the wrong one. But it's fixed now. I hope nobody read that and tried to do some wiring.
