Is the Crane cam 110741 too much for a 30 over 350 with flat top and stock type heads that are 2.02. I will be running it from 3500 rpms up to about 5800 rpms. Cast iron intake with an enhanced q-jet.

exhaust lift 525
duration 244/252
with 1.5 rockers
Also, does anyone have a magic formula for the compression ratio.
Sounds like a good cam for the RPM you want to run.

What is the deck height?
What cc's are the valve reliefs in the pistons?

Yes it is too much. If you want to run up to 5800 rpm, Comp Cams Xtreme Energy XE262H or XE268H grinds may be just what you need. Both work with stock torque converter. A slightly rough idle with either cam. The 262 has a power range of 1300-5600 rpm and the 268 has a power range of 1600-5800.

They make a XE274H grind that would also be acceptable but requires an aftermarket torque converter of atleast 2200 rpm stall and makes only 11-14 inches of vacuum at idle which is hardly sufficient for power brakes. I will be running the XE256H in my truck very shortly.

That is what I am trying to decide to purchase. If I know the formula I can determine what I need to buy to get the proper ratio.
Use this site to play around with different gasket thicknesses (is that a word :confused: ) to see how it affects the end displacement. You can see what is commonly available and plug those numbers in.
Crane has a great site with descriptions in the upper right hand corner and all timing information unlike other grinders. The cam you're looking at is ground on 106 degree centers.

Here's a little milder cam that will have the motor up on the cam a little better comin' off the corner and still make power to your max revs. Keep in mind that I have never raced oval track, but I would think I'd want the motor up on the cam as early as I could possibly get it and still have the top end power I wanted ???????

The 110741 was my second choice from Crane, I was also looking at Speedpros 4000 cam. Does anyone have any experiance with it? I would like to know what kind of results you had.
