Is there a list of HP specs of stock motors?

Does anyone know of a list of horsepower specifications of stock 350 motors?
I am building a rat rod and would like to find a stock motor that has some go without having to buy a rebuild. I notice that in the late 70's and 80's they really toned the stock motors down.
What would be a good motor to look for?

You will not find an unmolested, good running original engine. My suggestion would be a ZZ4 crate motor from GM. If you prefer, they also sell long blocks. These crate engines run from 250+ HP (the ZZ4 is 350 HP) up to 430 HP.

You can swap valve covers and other vintage acceesories to make it look like '50's or early '60's engine and still have the benefit of a 2/24 warranty.

I would agree that you wont likely find a good running high hp engine that is not in need of a rebuild. If you still want to try that route I have had a hard time finding a list but 1970 was pretty well the peak year of performance. good years were about 1964-1972, any newer and it was pretty much a mutt due to all the regulations imposed. One good bet is to try to find an engine with camel hump heads, a good sign it is a hot engine. www.mortec.com is a good source for casting info and a useful site. one problem with these heads is that most are without accessory bolt holes but i used March Performance brackets which worked better than stock and are nice looking as well. i have included a picture of the camel hump heads just in case you have not seen them before. good luck.
