Does anyone know where I can get manifolds that will fit a 77 corvette that i can bolt a turbo on. Ive been told to find a martin turbo set up to find a intake manifold off that kit, or accel turbosonic. Can anyone help clarify my situation. Any ideas?
Yep a Martin Turbo is the set-up you need. It is a suck through until boost is at set point and then sucks threw carb into turbo and back to or into intake under the carb via plumbing. It all fits under the hood TOO !!!!
The inventor is Bud Martin a buddy of mine. He marketed these 20 years before their time and are no longer made so must buy used. Boost max point is set with a very neat poppet in manifold. EASY and FOOL Proof.
I still have a couple somewhere but not for sale as I will put them on one of my Cobrays some day.
Well if you hear of anyone that has one im very interested. Otherwise i might just attempt to custom fab my own. Im going to out to buy a welder today.. Any suggestions from anybody on what kind of single turbo to run....
Roto-Master Turbosonic Kit (i.e. Accel) manifold is a nice way to go if the compressor housing isn't too large. The flow rate/diameter of the compressor will determine if a "lifting" spacer is needed. Original 1970's SBC 350 turbo kits were for "smog" motors and used a small diameter compressor to bump up horse power from 195 to 325 hp. If your car is already at/over 300 hp a larger compressor will (likely) be needed. A TO4R 60-1 should produce approx 550 HP in good installation since it supports 57 lbs/minute. I have one, but it needs a spacer to raise up the turbo since the compressor housing will contact the valve cover.
If you're still looking, I have a complete martin turbo kit with instructions that specifically fits a C3 style vette with SBC. Also have Corvette valve covers custom cut to fit the turbo tubing.
tjpoc what do you want for the set up?? I have a vette that could be the brother to yours. Any ways have you ever used the turbo on your vette and if so what kind of hp did you get over the stock motor>]

I do have the kit. Send me an email and I'll reply to the post regarding cost and pics. I wound up going with a Weiand blower and an old B&M sidedraft intake that kept everything under the stock hood (no holes or raised hood...woo hoo!). Thus, I don't have any performance values to report other than information from Desktop Dyno to predict what it would be with the turbo. It really depends on what mods you've done to the engine on how the performance would be affected.
