In my opinion, the 307 was General Motors way of using up the remaining 283 blocks and 327 cranks that were left over after they began producing the 350.
It's a garden-variety Chevy V8 that will produce respectable power (about 200 hp) in stock form and get respectable fuel mileage doing it, but you wouldn't want to choose it as a starting point for a performance build.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.
