I know this subject has been discussed alot but I going to ask anyway. I have two 350 motors. One is the 88 TBI and the other is a 93 TBI. I want to install one of them in my 30 Ford but I want to use a carb system so what do I need to do and which one of these motors would be best for the conversion. Thanks for your input.
u should probly use the 88 . as far as changing to a carb the main thing you will have to do is get an intake to fit the carb of your choice. hope that helps
Thanks for the reply, I'm kind of leaning that way also. I've had this motor for about six years and it runs great. It also has a 700r4 behind it. I found an old article in Street Rodder that showed a gig made by Tomken Machine out of Buesta, CO. that you can use to drill the manifold to fit the late model heads. I've emailed them and will let you know it the gig is available. I don't mean to sound like an advertisement but this is the first item like this that I've seen.
Anyone have any recommendations on the distributor and coil?
Someone posted a comment about a system available for the 700r4 when it is setup for carbs. Does anyone know the name of the company who makes it. I can't find that thread.

The 93 heads are nice. This web site has intakes that will fit your application.

As far as the distributor goes, I like the Mallary Unilite and Mallary Coil.

You might call them they might have one for the 700R4.
O Yea. As far as the blocks goes they should be the same, both having 1 pice rear main seals.
I ran a 700r for a bit in my 82 vette with 4 side draft webers , I picked up a tv cable from lokar and machined a mount out of billet to get working . Getting the cable setup correctly can be PIA on some setups . Shoot me an email if you need a bit more info ,,,,,,,,,,,,Quote:

Hey cannibal, thanks for the tips, I added them to my favorites list. Looks like I have everything lined out now. You mentioned the 93 heads might be "nicer" than the 88 heads, did GM make some improvements/changes on the 93s that I should consider? I guess an external electric fuel pump with a regulator would be in order. I was thinking about using a fuel cell similiar to the ones used in the asphalt cars. Looks like it will mount perfectly in the trunk area on my 30 Ford coupe with a little help.

My bad, they are the same heads. It was 86 when the change was made.
I think an electric fuel pump is a good idea, if you want to spend the extra money, but not needed for a carb application.
