I worked in Chevrolet parts in '67-'69. As I recall, I think there were some large journal crank 327s, but no 4-bolt blocks. Warning: My memory has failed on rare occasions! :-)
We sold a lot of 375 HP 3/4 motors to the local Illinois dirt trackers. They would add a roller, port injectors, and a mag, then drop them into sprint cars. They were 2-bolt blocks.
well the 67-68 dz-302's were lrg journal 4 bolt main 327's with 283 cranks <basically> then in 69 they got there own 302 block the DZ block the 67-68 blocks have MO on them.
Could the 327 be an industrial 327?
I recently acquired a motor to put in my 85 C10. I was told its a 327 which I was very excited about. I also noticed it was a 4 bolt main and didnt think anything of it. Since then I have looked at mortec.com and found that there are no 4 bolt main 327s listed. however the site that someone mentioned earlier has them mentioned. I am going to get the numbers off the motor and find out for sure what motor it is.... Do all 327s have a recessed oil filter or was it just the 65-67 Chevy II/Novas?
Do the number check and get back. By the time you do your research start with the numbers' you'll have a better idea of what you have from the factory. 4 inch bore blocks can have crank, rod, and piston combos for different displacements built by a hobbiest or engine builder.
FYI - I've found that the 2 letter suffix is the easiest way to begin IDing a block.

Which number is the number you need to go by? Its really really hard to make out the numbers on the flat piece infront of the cylinder head because the partial vin that is supposed to be below it is stamped directly on top of it. I tried to make it out but im not sure i was correct because when I looked that number up it came back that it was a 327 out of a chevelle. Then I looked at the number on the back of the motor and checked that one and it came back that its a 350 out of a truck.....
hi, all if i remember right, they made some of the 4 bolt mains in the earlier vetts, i think that they were around the early 60's. the spec's were 327/375 hp/fuelie motors ? ckeck the numbers and good luck

You will see some castings that were 2 or 4 bolt mains. I think in 69 the 350 and 327 used the same block casting.
I know some Vettes and medium duty trucks still had a small jornal crank in 68, GM must have been useing up late 67 parts in some early 68 productions.
